Let me preface this by saying I’m a married man, but I remember there being a slew of pandemic articles and op-eds about dating during Covid times, about all the anxiety and apprehension, etc, so it felt like a good and timely subject for a song.
There’s no explicit references to a pandemic or anything, just this lonely person who’s bored and kinda down on the world, texting and DM-ing with a prospective lover, dreaming about getting to see them in person.
It shows the ordinary aspects of any courtship, like the constant questioning insecurity (Are they seeing other people? Do they feel the same way I feel?), but there’s also that added shittiness of feeling stuck indoors and in the digital realm that speaks more directly to these past couple of years.

Lyrics:
I see you beside me
Just like ordinary time
A starry night lit up
We walk along the scenic path
Feel your arms around me
Our fingers twisting in the pine
Like, no hesitation, no
Cause we don’t feel like holding back
ASL
Show and tell
Draw me to your memory well
You waive a present from your birthday
Sharing recs
Over text
“My Life to Live”
My flex
You may
Start to feel some type of way
I wanna share big thoughts with you
I’m sure there’s others, say they do to
Our world is falling
But hell we could shoot
For something decent and true
(Ooo, do you feel how I feel?)
Well if you wanna talk
You know I’m around
I see you beside me
Just like ordinary time
A starry night lit up
We walk along the scenic path
Feel your arms around me
Our fingers twisting in the pine
Like, no hesitation, no
Cause we don’t feel like holding back
You take me back to when
Crushing on the AIM
Was new
Now it’s something kind of blue
So keep the dream
Evergreen
Back in a real-life scene
Forget your cybersickness upset
I wanna go on long walks with you
I’m there’s others who say they do too
Our world is falling
But hell we could shoot
For something decent and true
(Ooo, do you feel how I feel?)
Well if you wanna talk
Know I’m around
When she’s busy
I’m bored with time
Clear my inbox
Watch some Vines
Thinking on trips
Treats from the past
Ceviche from Kew Gardens
Man she’d like that
Can’t get you out of my head
A disaster
Can’t get you out of my head
A disaster
Checking on friends
Remember me
Recalling colleagues I never see
But no love lost
Outside Custerdome
She’s the only one
Makes me feel less alone
Can’t get you out of my head
A disaster
Can’t get you out of my head
A disaster
Long nights viewing our threads
A disaster
Can’t get you out my head
A disaster
I see you beside me
Just like ordinary time
A starry night lit up
I never thought we’d make it back
