Enron's Trip 04:02
Lyrics: Lights in your financial service firm were burning bright Dolphin decal punched on paper took you into the night Omega’s stopped, or so you thought, man, what even is time? Man what even is time? Man what even is time? Man what even is time? Own what you have done Spare me the storyline Spare the song and dance about everyone else Just chill, it’s fine You asked if I could stay for a while I thought it easier not to decline I can’t change the way that your mind’s made It’s not my place to carry all that weight, man Said you ought to share your thoughts on modern anomie “The city swallows us, anonymous, like in a sea” I knew that you were lonely, dude, I said that I agreed Yeah that I agreed Yeah that I agreed Yeah that I agreed Own what you have done Spare me the storyline Spare the song and dance about everyone else Just chill, it’s fine You asked if I could stay for a while I thought it easier not to decline I can’t change the way that your mind’s made It’s not my place to carry all that weight It’s not my place to say man Sheet white, light as a ghost is, man Sheet white, light as a ghost Sheet white, light as a ghost is, man Sheet white, light as a ghost Sheet white, light as a ghost is, man Sheet white, light as a ghost Sheet white, light as a ghost is, man Sheet white, light as a ghost Sheet white, light as a ghost is, man Sheet white, light as a ghost Sheet white, light as a ghost is, man Sheet white, light as a ghost

Lyrics: Peaceful, so comfortable In a cool blue dream again Headlines pushing through Alert the latest news So au courant Shook up and uncomfortable Pulled from between again Headlines pushing through Alert the latest news Too au courant Is this denouement? All day Unbroken Calamitous views Futures stolen In gray Disarray Nothing but woes today Then I see it It’s all gonna come down Feels bad to be so Optional Close my phone Ease my mind Find my om Drink some wine Clear my thoughts In sea brine Leave that dread behind Peaceful, so comfortable Quiet off loud again Headlines pushing through Alert the latest news So au courant Shook up and uncomfortable Fighting my doubt again Headlines pushing through Alert the latest news Too au courant It’s like denouement Hard to Look away Long live the new flesh Refresh, replay It takes a toll on you That’s just your point of view Then I see it It’s all gonna come down Put up my guard but I Can’t unsee it It’s all gonna come down Maybe I can’t go back to Optional Close my phone Ease my mind Find my om Drink some wine Clear my thoughts In sea brine Leave that dread behind

Lyrics: I see you beside me Just like ordinary time A starry night lit up We walk along the scenic path Feel your arms around me Our fingers twisting in the pine Like, no hesitation, no Cause we don’t feel like holding back ASL Show and tell Draw me to your memory well You waive a present from your birthday Sharing recs Over text “My Life to Live” My flex You may Start to feel some type of way I wanna share big thoughts with you I’m sure there’s others, say they do to Our world is falling But hell we could shoot For something decent and true (Ooo, do you feel how I feel?) Well if you wanna talk You know I’m around I see you beside me Just like ordinary time A starry night lit up We walk along the scenic path Feel your arms around me Our fingers twisting in the pine Like, no hesitation, no Cause we don’t feel like holding back You take me back to when Crushing on the AIM Was new Now it’s something kind of blue So keep the dream Evergreen Back in a real-life scene Forget your cybersickness upset I wanna go on long walks with you I’m there’s others who say they do too Our world is falling But hell we could shoot For something decent and true (Ooo, do you feel how I feel?) Well if you wanna talk Know I’m around When she’s busy I’m bored with time Clear my inbox Watch some Vines Thinking on trips Treats from the past Ceviche from Kew Gardens Man she’d like that Can’t get you out of my head A disaster Can’t get you out of my head A disaster Checking on friends Remember me Recalling colleagues I never see But no love lost Outside Custerdome She’s the only one Makes me feel less alone Can’t get you out of my head A disaster Can’t get you out of my head A disaster Long nights viewing our threads A disaster Can’t get you out my head A disaster I see you beside me Just like ordinary time A starry night lit up I never thought we’d make it back

Lyrics: Last night I was reminded of Tandem like, oh right Whatever happened to that scene? What’s new? That’s still a door you can’t walk through Got you I guess that I should take your lead That autumn’s almost out of reach So atmospheric I can’t breathe That’s the encouragement I need A long lost chorus for us I still hold it dear Another recording Don’t think it’s too sincere Takes on a couple personas They’re all sort of the same I still dug the notice A fleeting claim to fame I put Hazel St on I thought it could’ve been our song A nice spot between romance and nostalgia My habits would’ve gotten old Like, how much can one guy get stoned? When you burned out I would say I told ya I wonder Have you changed? Would our weird vibe still remain? Or just no A long lost chorus for us I hold it dear Another recording Don’t think it’s too sincere What’s new? That’s still a door you can’t walk through Got you I guess that I should take your lead

about

Brooklyn/DC-based band Personal Space are a conundrum: indie without a scene, prog disdaining complexity, a dad band without dads. Their forthcoming EP, Still Life, finds them crawling out of their pandemic cave and embracing an overarching complexity for us all; life on permanent hold.

It follows their 2021 LP, A Lifetime of Leisure, which found the band fretting over downward mobility, preoccupied with ethically sourcing their groceries, and hoping, against hope, that humanity can still find its way to a very chill, socialist utopia.

Still Life is the natural progression as Personal Space grapples with lost connections in a pandemic, tech-bro hustlers and finding the joy in our whirring 2022 realities. But whether they’re ripping off Third Eye Blind or doing their best Stereolab impression, Personal Space always brings their signature elixir to satisfy parched ears: dropped eighths, shimmering guitars, and a whole lot of skronk.

Still Life is out June 3rd on Good Eye Records.
